Discover the unique history of the East Kootenay on a invigorating and educational snowshoe tour through a beautiful forest with gorgeous views, an invigorating winter hike to one of our favourite local spots, or a family-friendly excursion on some of the local trails. This nature-based enterprising non profit venture takes you off the beaten path into scenic areas to connect with the East Kootenay environment!

Led by professional naturalist Lee-Anne Walker these winter tours are geared to get you outside and learning about all of the amazing things we have in our own backyard in the Elk Valley. With outings exploring the best of the the Fernie area there is sure to be something for everyone! Wild Nature Snowshoe Safaris run from December 27, 2017 to March 30, 2018. Wild Nature Tours is a non-profit venture made possible through cooperation of the Elk Valley and Invermere Branches of Wildsight. Wildsight works to protect biodiversity and encourage sustainable human communities in Canada's Southern Rocky Mountain eco-region. All proceeds go towards local environmental education and protection.

Provincial Park Paradise Snowshoe Safari
Explore one of the snowiest places on earth. Discover the fascinating winter survival strategies of wildlife in the Rocky Mountains. Snowshoe across powder meadows glistening like diamonds. Enjoy a hot drink and homemade baking along a sparkling mountain creek before returning with rosy cheeks, fond memories and a new appreciation of winter ecology.

Sleeping Bear Snowshoe Safari
Spend a day snowshoeing in the spectacular Cedar Valley Old Growth Reserve at Island Lake Lodge discovering why grizzly bears choose this spot to slumber. Meeting location is at Island Lake Lodge parking lot, end of Mt Fernie Provincial Park Rd. Transportation can be arranged if necessary. Includes snowcat ride to Island Lake Lodge, gourmet lunch indoors at the Lodge, guided interpretive tour, snowshoes, hot drinks, and homemade snacks.
